During 8th Grade Night, we treat your children as actual members of the band for the entire evening. They will warm up, march in, play during the game, march out, and remain in the band room for closing comments with Mr. Williams and Mr. Pannell. Just like our current band members, they will not be allowed to visit the concession stand, wander off, or leave early. This experience is designed to give students first hand knowledge of what it is like to be a NCHS Marching Warrior. With that being said, please remind your student that they must obey all Cobb County rules, as this is a school function.
What to Wear and Bring with You
- Wear your NCHS Band T-shirt and jeans (no shorts).
- Bring your instrument labeled with your name, phone number, and school.
- Bring a jacket (please label with your name and phone number).
- If you have asthma, bring your inhaler.
- You do not need to bring money! We will provide everything the student needs (dinner and refreshments).
Schedule
4:45 p.m. – Arrival (drop off at band room off Nowlin Road)
5:00 p.m. – Band leadership will meet in groups by instrument for introductions, discussion, and questions
5:30 p.m. – Dinner
6:00 p.m. – Directors welcome students
6:15 p.m. – Students warm up with the band
6:50 p.m. – Students march into the stadium with the band, enjoy the game, and return to the band room at the end of the game
10:20 p.m. – Approximate dismissal time from the band room (game ending times vary)
Dismissal
Students will be dismissed at approximately 10:20 p.m. from the band room. Please make arrangements with your child to pick him/her up at that time. Also, please remember that there is NO CELL PHONE SERVICE inside the band building. If at all possible, please speak with your student about cell phone etiquette. Cell phone usage is not permitted while your student is in the stands with the band.
