After School Band Rehearsals for 7-1 and 8-1 start Feb 3rd

Greetings 8-1 and 7-1 Barber Band Families!

LGPE season is now upon us and we are in full swing for preparation for this event.  For 7th graders, the LGPE process is new to them.  Now that your student is a 7th grader, he or she has the privilege of performing with the 7-1 band at our district LGPE.  LGPE stands for Large Group Performance Evaluation.  It is a performance where world-class judges grade us and our students have an opportunity to perform for several other middle school bands in our district.  They will also get the opportunity to hear several other schools as well.   Our 7-1 students will be taking a day trip to Kell HS on March 26th to perform at this event.  The 8-1 grade LGPE is going to be on March 14th at McEachern High School.  You will be receiving more information about these performances in the very near future.  We are very excited about them and there is no doubt that our students will be working very hard in the next couple of months to prepare for what will be the biggest performance of their band careers thus far.  We will be having a preview concert for the parents at Barber Middle School on the night of March 6th at 7:00 pm.

To help us prepare for these performances, I have arranged after school rehearsals.  For about six weeks, leading up to the LGPE performance, the students will take turns rehearsing in small groups once a week for 45 minutes from 4:30-5:15 pm.

Here is the schedule:

Mondays – Percussion

Tuesdays – Tuba, Baritone, Trombone, Tenor Sax, Bari Sax, Bass Clarinet, and Bassoon

Thursdays – Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, and  French Horn

The rehearsals will start the week of Monday, 3 February 2014.  You can view the detailed band calendar on our website, barberband.org

These rehearsals are crucial to the success of our program.  If there are any conflicts, please notify me at your earliest convenience so we can work something out.  Thank you for your time and your advocacy in our program
